Habitat GO successfully completed construction on four homes on Nantes Street in Orleans, beside the site of the 2013 Builds (below). The two semi-detached houses were purchased by four families with a combined 15 children.
Habitat GO completed three homes on Nantes Street in Orléans in 2013.
Along with celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013, Habitat GO was proud to build three homes on Nantes Street in Orléans, which included one of the first urban Indigenous Builds in the province. The home was purchased by Ida Kakekagumick who is an Ojibwa-Cree from Northern Ontario with legal custody of her three grandchildren.
The other two homes were purchased by a single mom and her two children and the Caceres, a family of six. They were desperately in need homes of their own and Habitat NCR offered them “a hand up, not a hand out” through the Habitat GO homeownership program.
The Dedication Ceremony for the Caceres family’s new home on Nantes Street took place in October 2013.
